Carer Recognition Act 2010 Guidelines

The Carer Recognition Act 2010 came into effect on 18 November 2010, and is the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver the first element of the National Carer Recognition Framework.

The aim of the Act is to increase recognition and awareness of the role carers play in providing daily care and support to people with disability, medical conditions, mental illness or who are frail aged.

The Australian Government has released the Carer Recognition Act 2010 Guidelines. The Guidelines have been developed to assist Australian Public Service Agencies and funded providers to meet their responsibilities under the Act.

The fact sheet, An important message for service providers, highlights the obligations of service providers under the Act
