Yes. We will support and provide reasonable adjustments so you can take part in assessments and interviews. Please tell us your adjustment needs in your application. 

If you are shortlisted for an interview or the work sample assessment, we will contact you to discuss your requirements. 

If you are offered a role, we will work with you to provide any ongoing workplace adjustments you need to perform your best.

Our Graduate Development Program provides many learning opportunities, which may include:

• a tailored learning and development program that helps build APS Craft(Opens in a new tab/window)
• face-to-face and virtual events, including a department-led Strategic Policy project
• access to a Senior Executive Service (SES) mentor 
• networking opportunities with graduates and SES.

To successfully complete the Graduate Development Program, you must:

• take part in the department’s orientation program
• complete 2 work rotations
• receive a rating of 'performs well' or ‘developing’ in your performance discussion
• complete all probation requirements
• meet the requirements of the Graduate Development Program Handbook
• complete all core components of the learning program, including courses and events.

Yes. Our Entry Level Program Coordinators are your main point of contact throughout the program. They provide support, guidance and will help you settle into your placements.

You will be matched with a 'buddy' who is a former Graduate Development Program participant. We also provide development opportunities for all staff to support personal and professional growth.

Yes. You will have access to a range of leave options including flex time, annual and personal leave.

We also have ways to help staff balance their work, family and other caring responsibilities effectively.

Supporting staff wellbeing reflects our broader approach to inclusive and accessible workplaces.

Working from home arrangements may be considered during your graduate year, including during probation.

You can request to work from home, but decisions are made case by case and must consider business needs, operational requirements, and security obligations.

We encourage graduates to focus on the core training available within the program. 

You may be eligible for further study after you have successfully completed all program requirements.

Before you resign from your current job, we strongly recommend waiting until:

• you have passed all the pre-employment checks, and
• you receive a formal offer of engagement.
