Important information

The Inclusive Employment Australia program replaced the Disability Employment Services program on 1 November 2025.

About Disability Employment Services

The Disability Employment Services (DES) program supported people with disability, injury and/or health condition to gain employment.

People with disability may have been eligible for one of two different parts of the DES program:

  • Disability Management Service was for job seekers with disability, injury or health condition who need assistance to find a job and occasional support in the workplace to keep a job.
  • Employment Support Service was for job seekers with permanent disability who need help to find a job and who need regular, ongoing support in the workplace to keep a job.

Inclusive Employment Australia replaced DES on 1 November 2025. The new Centre for Inclusive Employment supports this program.

Support for participants

The DES program gave participants flexibility and choice in the services they received and how they received them. A DES participant information pack provided information to support participants to make informed choices on their employment journey. The participant information pack contained frequently asked questions (FAQ) fact sheets.

Support for employers

DES providers offered recruitment support and guidance to employers. This may have included help to:

  • post job vacancies
  • shortlist candidates
  • interview people with a disability
  • access available financial support (if eligible).
  • Print
  • Email
