There are 1.2 billion young people aged 15 to 24 years in our world today. That’s 16 per cent of the global population.

International Youth Day is an opportunity to bring youth issues to the attention of people internationally. Today celebrates the potential and achievements of young people as partners in today’s global society.

When our young people are provided with the tools they need to succeed, it creates a stronger future for us all.

Consent is an important topic for young people to learn about. Learning and talking about consent matters. Teaching youth about the importance of consent in intimacy prepares them to have respectful and safe relationships.

When we think about consent as a set of skills that can be learned, it’s easier to discuss with other adults. These conversations with peers will give us the knowledge and confidence about consent that we can then share with young people.
