Activity details
The NSW Police Force and Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) Co-location Pilot aims to improve the response to women who attend a police station to report, or seek help in relation to, domestic and family violence. The Pilot was developed following several reviews and inquiries which found that women do not always receive an optimal response at the front counter of the police station.
The Pilot started in 5 locations (Nowra, Griffith, Armidale, Kogarah and Fairfield) in October 2022 and expanded to an additional 5 sites (Blacktown, Taree, Orange, Belmont/Toronto and Albury) from October 2023.
Implementation progress update
The NSW Government has committed an additional $272.7 million over 4 years to address domestic, family and sexual violence in the 2025-26 budget. This includes $3 million to continue the pilot in existing sites for a further 2 years, until 30 June 2027. The funding component for 2025-26 will be from the renewed Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Responses (FDSV Responses) 2025-30 component of the FDSV Responses 2021-2030 Federation Funding Agreement, funded by both the Commonwealth and NSW.
