Activity details
The eSafety Commissioner developed a downloadable guide that explains how implementing Safety by Design can help identify, assess and address tech-facilitated gender-based violence.
Implementation progress update
In September 2024, the eSafety Commissioner (eSafety) published the Technology, Gendered Violence and Safety by Design: An industry guide. The guide explains the characteristics, impacts and perpetration of tech-facilitated gender-based violence and provides examples of how technology can be weaponised and how industry can use Safety by Design principles to improve the safe use of technology by women and girls. For more information and to access the guide see eSafety Commissioner - Implementation Guides
Beginning September 2025, eSafety will undertake further engagement with industry to develop an additional chapter for the guide, focused on coercive control, with the intention to publish in early 2026.
