Activity details
Providing $2.1 million to conduct a scoping study on alternative reporting mechanisms for victims and survivors of sexual assault who may not wish to engage directly with police or formal justice processes.
This activity is part of a broader activity to embed trauma-informed and culturally safe response models to support victim-survivors through the family court and justice systems.
Implementation progress update
The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology was engaged to undertake the scoping study. The study will consider alternative reporting mechanisms for victims and survivors of sexual assault to better meet the needs of victims and survivors and reduce the risk of re‑traumatisation.
The final report was delivered in late 2024. Findings of the scoping study are under consideration. Publication of the report is a matter for government.
