Implementation progress update

System reform – risk assessment and information sharing
Under the System Reform Plan, the State Government has committed to several initiatives to improve risk assessment and develop information sharing as two critical pillars for reforming family and domestic violence systems in Western Australia. WA's Family and Domestic Violence Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework is being updated based on a current state analysis and review of current practice in screening and risk assessment across agencies and jurisdictions. This work is a priority reform action and is being complemented by a project to develop an Aboriginal Family Violence risk assessment tool (refer Action 7 for detail on this project). Information sharing reform is being progressed through several actions including establishing a central information point model for Western Australia. Early work on this project has involved undertaking data discovery to assess feasibility of data sharing and reviewing the results of a jurisdictional scan and consultation. Other reform actions under the reform pillar of information sharing include two projects being led in partnership with the state’s peak for women’s specialist family and domestic violence services, Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing: based on sector engagement, identifying opportunities to upgrade the Specialist Homelessness Information Platform; and developing guidance material to support better information sharing within existing legal frameworks.
