Activity details

Develop, implement, and embed evidence-based and trauma-informed domestic and family violence (DFV) practice development frameworks to enhance existing education and training across the DFV sector, and justice and child safety systems, including funded services (where appropriate).

Implementation progress update

The Strengthening Families Protecting Children Framework for Practice (Framework for Practice) and the Safe and Together program will continue to be implemented and embedded across the state.

This will include providing staff with ongoing training and tools to support a victim/survivor of DFV to care protectively for their children, and to hold persons using violence accountable.

The Framework for Practice and Safe and Together program will continue to be reviewed and changes implemented as needed to ensure continuous improvement on matters such as the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership and perspectives in the program. For more information see Principles | Child Safety Practice Manual.

Implementation of the Safe and Together model continues across the state. Child Safety staff have been given ongoing training and tools to provide domestic and family violence-informed child protection practice. Additional Child Safety staff have been supported to attend the Safe and Together 'Train the Trainer' program in 2023–24 to enhance capacity to deliver and embed the program.

An evaluation of the Safe and Together model and related frameworks has been completed, with the outcomes of the evaluation now being implemented. For more information see Engaging with victims and people who use violence | Child Safety Practice Manual.
