Implementation progress update
Advertising for Phase 5 of the Stop it at the Start campaign ran from 17 June 2024 to 30 April 2025. This phase, The Hidden Trends of Disrespect, aimed to educate adults about the new and hidden forms of disrespect young people are being exposed to online and offline. It also aimed to encourage them to have conversations with young people about respect. The campaign ran across multiple media channels including television, online video, cinema, social media and media partnerships. The campaign was supported by public relations activities for mainstream, First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse audiences.
An educational tool, the Algorithm of Disrespect™ was developed as part of Phase 5, to help adults understand a young person's online experience and how easily harmful and disrespectful content can impact them. For more information see the respect.gov.au website.
Phase 6 of the campaign is subject to Australian Government approval.
