Activity details

Stewarding best practice for evolving lived experience work across the government and sector.

This activity is part of a broader activity to work with people who have lived experience to shape a system that meets the needs of the people that use it. This will be done under the Family Violence Lived Experience Strategy.

Implementation progress update

The Victorian Government established the Victim Survivors’ Advisory Council in 2016. Now in its 9th year, its members provide advice to the Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence on the implementation of the family violence reforms.

People with lived experience continue to inform the ongoing implementation of family and sexual violence reform in Victoria, including through participation in advisory groups, design processes, evaluation panels, research projects and through communications and events.

Victim-survivors are supported to provide direct input into the development of the third Family Violence Reform Rolling Action Plan 2025-27. They have contributed to the design and development of legislative reforms relating to family violence and personal safety intervention orders, children and young people Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management practice guidance, perpetrator interventions and primary prevention initiatives.
