This activity is part of a broader public awareness campaign to educate the community about preventing violence against women and children.
Implementation progress update
See the Signs launched on 15 March 2023 with a public forum. This was followed by a media campaign including TikTok-style videos and outdoor advertising such as bus stop signage. During the initial phase from March to May 2023, 31,025 people accessed the ‘See the Signs’ website which raises awareness about coercive control.
A second phase of See the Signs ran from July to September 2023 to capitalise on the visibility of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. This campaign was delivered through social media and outdoor media targeted at young women experiencing coercive control, young men perpetrating coercive control, and bystanders.
Following the introduction of the Criminal Consolidations (Coercive Control) Amendment Bill in August 2024, the See the Signs campaign was re-launched from September 2024 to October 2024 across social and digital platforms.
