Implementation progress update

Safe and Together Model training for child safety practitioners
Over the 2024/2025 financial year, Communities' 40 Certified Trainers delivered Safe and Together 4-day CORE Safe and Together training to almost 600 training participants. Over 350 of these were from within the Department of Communities and over 200 from other partner agencies inclusive of Department of Health, Legal Aid WA, Department of Justice and across the non-government FDV sector. Since centralisation of the Safe and Together model training packages from July 2023, approximately 1,400 participants have completed the 4-day training program. Training scheduling for the 2025/2026 financial year is in progress, with a further 17 4-day CORE Safe and Together training programs planned for metropolitan and regional Western Australia (WA). From September 2025, an additional 6 Communities staff will commence the Certified Trainer program with the Safe and Together Institute, which will further support localisation of the Safe and Together model across metropolitan and regional WA with at least 1x Certified Trainer based in each Child Protection District location from February 2026.
