Activity details

Implementing and evaluating the rollout of the 34 new Family Safety Service positions as part of the enhanced Family and Domestic Violence Response Team (FDVRT) Model. The FDVRT Model is a partnership between the Department of Communities, Western Australia Police Force and FDV Coordinated Response Services to provide intensive, culturally responsive services for victim-survivors at highest risk of harm.

This activity is part of a broader activity to improve responses to better support victim-survivors and hold people who choose to use violence to account through a coordinated approach involving police, justice and family and domestic violence Coordinated Response Services.

Implementation progress update

Family Safety Service: The Family Safety Service is comprised of Family Safety Coordinators and Family Safety Support Workers who are dedicated to responding to high-risk, high-harm cases of family and domestic violence and are a key link between existing supports and the local community. A Coordinator and Support Worker are currently being embedded into each FDVRT across Western Australia to support their daily operations. Thirty-one out of 34 positions have been filled.
