Continue to roll out specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) courts informed by the outcomes of the evaluation of the Southport Specialist DFV Court model.
Implementation progress update
Two new Specialist DFV Courts commenced operations in Brisbane and Cairns in July 2023, and policy and program products to support the expansion have been completed.
Expansion of the specialist DFV court justice response continued in 2024-25. As part of this expansion strategy, 2 new DFV court coordinators have been supporting an additional 9 court locations. This support includes improving stakeholder coordination and enhanced registry practices.
The first operational working groups for the new court locations were held in February and March 2025 to facilitate the implementation of best practice elements across Queensland.
