This activity is part of a broader activity to embed trauma-informed and culturally safe response models to support victims and survivors through the family court and justice systems.

Implementation progress update

The Attorney-General’s Department partnered with the Australasian Institute of Judicial Administration to commission a literature review on specialist approaches to managing sexual assault proceedings.

The literature review was made publicly available in October 2023. For information see Specialist Approaches to Managing Sexual Assault Proceedings: An Integrative Review - Australasian Institute of Judicial Administration.

The Attorney-General’s Department is considering the review, including how it may inform future policy or legislative changes and has shared it with all Australian jurisdictions and the Australian Law Reform Commission to inform its upcoming national inquiry into justice responses to sexual violence.
