Resources and training to support children and young people experiencing tech-facilitated abuse (TFA) in family and domestic violence contexts.

Implementation progress update

The eSafety Commissioner (eSafety) has created a variety of resources and factsheets and commissioned a consultation report and practice framework. eSafety is also incorporating new content on children and TFA into eSafety's standard frontline worker training. Between July 2022 and June 2024, eSafety delivered training to over 1,100 professionals working with children and young people in the family and domestic violence sector, as well as out of home care workers (including youth workers, social workers, counsellors and psychologists).

In 2024-2025, eSafety continued development of a toolkit for frontline workers, including a tech safety assessment and plan, and conversation guides for talking with children and young people experiencing TFA. eSafety is also collaborating with YLab to develop web content for, and co-designed with, young people to help them understand how to seek support for TFA, particularly in family and domestic violence situations. This includes animated video case studies. These 2 resources are will be launched at a webinar on Friday 5 September. The launch event will be a webinar delivered in collaboration with the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare. The launch will be followed by an awareness campaign developed in consultation with YLab.

As part of the project, updates will be made to the existing webpage. This will be a useful place to start for information on TFA and its impact on children, both prior to and following the resource launch. For more information see Keeping your family safe - eSafety Commissioner.
