Activity details

Report public sector workforce data to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). Commonwealth public sector agencies with 100 employees or more must report to WGEA for the first time in 2023.

This activity is part of a broader activity to improve women’s economic security through new legislation and a greater understanding of gender equality performance in Australian workplaces.

Implementation progress update

Relevant Commonwealth public sector employers have been required to report to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) since 2023. The first year of reporting covered 2022 data. WGEA published 2023 data reported by public sector employers in May 2025. This was the first year that individual gender pay gaps were published for 120 Commonwealth public sector employers and 2 corporate groups. For more information see WGEA Commonwealth Public Sector Gender Equality Scorecard.
