Activity details
Continue implementing the recommendations of the Listen. Take Action to Prevent, Believe and Heal Report to improve the prevention of sexual violence and responses to victim-survivors. The recommendations cover a broad range of themes, including a long-term sexual violence prevention strategy, an ongoing consultation program with victim-survivors, enhanced workplace safety, improved data collection, and a governance model for the coordination of these reforms. Recommendations also relate to training and education including relationship and sexuality education, improved training on the dynamics of sexual violence, cultural competency of specialist workers and their organisations, and bystander training.
Implementation progress update
In January 2025, the ACT Government re-established the Wraparound Support program which operates within Victim Support ACT to provide multidisciplinary, multi-agency case coordination for sexual violence victim-survivors. This responds to Recommendation 3a of the Listen. Take Action to Prevent, Believe and Heal Report. In response to Recommendation 15, the Sexual Assault (Police) Review was published in April 2024 to examine low charge rates in sexual offence cases. The Government’s formal response (September 2024) agreed to 8 recommendations, agreed in principle to 19, and noted one. Eight sub-recommendations under Recommendation 23 have been completed, including reforms to sentencing.
