Activity details

The delivery of a program to support young people under 25 years who are pregnant and/or parenting who may be experiencing or perpetrating domestic and family violence (DFV).

Implementation progress update

The Supporting Parents' and Children's Emotions (SPACE) program provides early intervention support to young parents aged between 12 and 25 years who experience or perpetrate DFV. The program aims to reduce the risk of children being exposed to DFV.

Through the provision of therapeutic counselling, group work, psychosocial education and case management, young people will be supported to better understand and manage the impacts of violence on their children.

SPACE will aim to provide young people with the skills necessary to maintain positive health and wellbeing for themselves and their children and strengthen their ability to access support when needed.

The positive impacts of SPACE can be seen through a client story on the Women's and Children's Health Network website: Women’s and Children’s Health Network • Emma's* Story.
