Implementation progress update
Delivery of 3 pilot programs aimed at improving responses to family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) for LGBTIQA+ communities concluded on 30 June 2025. These pilots focused on testing inclusive and trauma-informed approaches to prevention and response. An independent evaluation of the pilots is currently underway, with findings expected to be published in late 2025.
In October 2024, the Department supported a national roundtable that brought together LGBTIQA+ stakeholders to discuss the impacts of FDSV on LGBTQ+SB communities. The roundtable resulted in the publication of a report titled Where to from here: An approach to ending gender-based violence in LGBTQ+SB communities. The report outlines key recommendations for all Australian governments to consider in future policy and program development.
The report is available at Where to from here: An approach to ending gender-based violence in LGBTQ+SB communities.
