Activity details
Provide funding of $4.0 million (2022–23 to 2026-27) to Parents Beyond Breakup. This funding is for the national expansion of ‘Dads in Distress’ (DIDs), which offers in-community peer support groups and mentors for men experiencing relationship and family breakdown.
Implementation progress update
The Dad in Distress (DIDs) national expansion project commenced in July 2022 with the aim to expand the DIDs peer support groups into 13 new locations nationally which rate high for risk of suicide for males experiencing relationship issues and family breakdown. The project was extended in 2024-25 for two years, to include 3 additional DIDs peer support groups and 30 peer support mentors across Australia.
13 of the 16 DIDs groups were operational as at June 2025, with the remaining 3 expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The 30 peer support mentors are expected to be operational by 30 June 2027.
