Activity details

Provide opportunities for perpetrators to change their behaviour, including engaging at-risk boys and young men early to prevent harmful attitudes and behaviours. This includes piloting an early intervention project targeting at-risk boys and young men between 12-25 who are disengaged from traditional settings, where existing early intervention initiatives can reach them.

Implementation progress update

The Jesuit Social Services-led project is in the third year of implementation. Over 14 pilots in flexible learning schools and community organisations have been delivered, including workforce capacity building sessions. An external evaluation of the program is underway and will deliver a final report in January 2027. Early evaluation results demonstrate that the program is having positive impacts. It is helping young people improve their problem solving skills and build stronger social bonds. It is also encouraging better classroom behaviour as well as enhanced understanding of and ability to navigate gender norms and masculinity-related societal pressures.
