Establish a New South Wales Women’s Safety Commissioner to provide expert advice to government, strengthen cross-government and cross-sector collaboration, and advocate for continuing improvement to women’s safety in NSW by elevating voices of victim-survivors and the sector.

Implementation progress update

The Office of the Women’s Safety Commissioner was established in October 2023 to support the NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner in providing critical leadership and oversight of women’s safety issues across the whole of NSW Government through enhanced cross-government and cross-sector collaboration.

On 14 March 2024, the Women’s Safety Commissioner launched her inaugural Strategic Plan, Working together to address domestic, family and sexual violence: NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner Strategic Plan 2024-2027 (the Strategic Plan). The Strategic Plan sets out the six overarching and interconnected priorities that have guided the work of the Women's Safety Commissioner and her Office. For more information on the Strategic Plan see Working together to address domestic, family and sexual violence.

The NSW Women's Safety Commissioner publishes an Annual Report Card on the progress of reform across NSW to better prevent and respond to domestic, family and sexual violence. The Report Card also outlines the Women's Safety Commissioner's activities and priorities for the reporting period. For more information see the Annual Report Card 2023-24.
