Activity details

Development of nationally consistent sexual violence and child sexual abuse resources.

This activity is part of a broader activity to ensure victim-survivors are well supported to access recovery services.

Implementation progress update

A suite of sexual violence resources have been developed to strengthen the capability of the primary health care workforce to better respond to children and adults who have experienced sexual violence and child sexual abuse. Resources were distributed commencing from 18 March 2024.

The new resources, developed by the National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse, include two written brief Practice reference guides, a short video exploring lived experience and general practice perspectives in working with victim-survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse, an interactive tool providing Practice Prompts for primary health care engagement with victim-survivors, a blog, and a Creating Safer Spaces in Primary Care resource (including Easy Read versions).

Further resources to support General Practitioners and the Primary Care Workforce will be launched in the future. For more information please see Strengthening primary health care responses.
