Nationally consistent approach to support non-parent carers raising vulnerable children

Following an expressions of interest process held in 2024, the Department of Social Services (department) has funded four jurisdictions (Tasmania, South Australia, Northern Territory and New South Wales) to upgrade their Carers Registers in line with recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The department is working with a fifth jurisdiction to develop their proposal for consideration in the 2025-26 financial year.
