Providing $27.6 million for Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) to deliver a National Priority Research Program to build the evidence base required to support the National Plan and its Action Plans.
Implementation progress update
Under the National Priority Research Fund (NPRF), ANROWS has commissioned 14 research projects that focus on building the evidence base on pathways into and out of perpetration of family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV). 8 of the research projects will inform policy and practice design for prevention and early intervention. 6 research projects focus on engaging sectors beyond those that specialise in FDSV, including health, education, and LGBTQIA+ services. For more information on this research program see 2023–2027 People who use domestic, family and sexual violence research program.
ANROWS are currently holding forums for commissioned research teams to share early insights from their work with the Department of Social Services and relevant state and territory governments.
The NPRF supports the ongoing maintenance of the ANROWS Evidence Portal. The ANROWS Evidence Portal is an online resource which allows users to search quickly and easily for information about what might work to address or end violence against women in high-income countries like Australia. ANROWS are currently evaluating the Evidence Portal to identify directions for improvement in its usefulness, relevance, and accessibility. For more information see www.evidenceportal.au/.
The NPRF also supports ANROWS’ ongoing partnership with the Australian Domestic and Family Violence Death Review Network (the Network) to deliver the Death Review Research Program. This program of work produces research on family and domestic violence related deaths in Australia. In May 2025, ANROWS and the Network commenced planning for their next research project.
