Activity details
$33.1 million for the national expansion of the ‘Priority Property Pools’ program which provides separated couples dividing small property pools with access to expedited resolution through a streamlined court process. This program has been available throughout all registries of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and in the Family Court of Western Australia since the second half of 2023.
This activity is part of a broader activity investing $46.5 million in continuing and expanding two family law pilot programs to help vulnerable women achieve quick, safe, fair and affordable property settlements after separation.
Implementation progress update
The program has been rolled out nationally with strong uptake allowing many separated couples to resolve their property dispute through a court order more quickly and cost effectively than through the traditional court pathway.
In 2022, a positive evaluation of a trial of this program was completed by Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS). AIFS’ social return on investment analysis for the pilot showed that $3.88 of social value was generated for every $1 invested in the pilot.
