Activity details

Work together to pursue greater national coordination, collaboration, and sharing of current and innovative approaches for interventions with people who use violence.

Implementation progress update

In February 2024, the Australian, state and territory governments established a dedicated working group to collaborate and share information in relation to addressing the behaviour of people who use violence. This working group has now been superseded by other activities currently in progress.

The Australian, state and territory governments are working together to develop the national best-practice family and domestic violence risk assessment principles and a model best-practice risk assessment framework. Current and innovative approaches for interventions with people who use violence are also currently being studied and trialled nation-wide through the innovative perpetrator responses initiative under the Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Responses Federation Funding Agreement 2021-30. This is in addition to other governance and engagement activities that regularly occur between the Australia, state and territory governments.

For more information see the activities ‘National best-practice family and domestic violence risk assessment principles and model framework’ and ‘Innovative approaches to address perpetrator behaviour’.
