Activity details
Funding the McAuley Partnership Project.
This activity is part of a broader activity to provide a holistic approach to meeting victim-survivors’ short, medium and long term accommodation needs and reducing the risks of homelessness for victim-survivors.
Implementation progress update
The 2022-23 State Budget provided a total of $2.4 million grant funding in 2022-23 towards partnership proposals, including McAuley Community Services for Women (McAuley), to repurpose existing agency owned infrastructure for refuge and crisis accommodation. Heywood House opened as a core and cluster refuge in October 2022 with operational funding provided by the Victorian Government.
It provides 14 units of accommodation for family violence victim survivors including 7 family suites and 7 single units. Heywood House has capacity to house 35 women and children for up to 2 months, providing on-site services and support so victim survivors can recover and work towards a more permanent solution.
