Introduce legislation criminalising coercive control to improve the legal system’s response to domestic and family violence.
Implementation progress update
The Criminal Law Consolidation (Coercive Control) Amendment Bill 2024 was introduced into Parliament in August 2024. It passed the House of Assembly on 12 November 2024 and is awaiting debate in the Legislative Council.
Further progress on this activity will be reported under Action 9, 'Introduce legislation to criminalise coercive control'.
