The Crimes (Sentencing) Act Amendment Act 2024 amended the Crimes (Sentencing) Act 2005 to allow the courts to consider a sentencing submission made by any party in a proceeding.
Implementation progress update
The ACT Legislative Assembly passed this piece of legislation on 24 May 2024. This implements a recommendation of the Listen. Take action to prevent, believe and heal report (2021), which in effect responds to the High Court case of Barbaro.
