Activity details
Work together through the Council of Federal Financial Relations and the Women and Women’s Safety Ministerial Council to explore appropriate targets to create a more gender balanced labour market.
Implementation progress update
The Women and Women's Safety Ministerial Council is engaging with the Women's Economic Outcomes Senior Officials Working Group (WEO-SOWG), which is responsible for this activity. This Working Group supports the Council of Federal Financial Relations to identify underlying drivers of workforce gender segregation in Australia and promote a more gender balanced workforce.
In 2024, WEO-SOWG continued to build a repository of ideas and information sharing to inform government decision-making on reducing workforce gender segregation. They considered national efforts underway to address workforce gender segregation, including key issues such as gender-based undervaluation of work. WEO-SOWG also considered how gender impact assessments can be used by jurisdictions to identify the impacts of policy proposals on workforce gender segregation, including options to address data limitations, through the WEO-SOWG Gender Responsive Budgeting Community of Practice.
