Increase financial support available under the Temporary Visa Holders Experiencing Violence Pilot (TVP) to align with the Escaping Violence Payment from $3,000 to $5,000.
Implementation progress update
The financial support was increased to $5,000 from 3 July 2023.
Since 3 July 2023 up to 30 June 2024, 3,742 clients have received the full $5,000 in financial support.
The TVP supported over 6,962 victim-survivors and provided $27.4 million in financial assistance packages since it commenced in April 2021 to 30 June 2025.
The TVP stopped taking applications on 30 June 2025. Commencing on 1 July 2025, the Leaving Violence Program provides a financial support package to eligible victim-survivors regardless of visa status, gender, or sexuality. The Leaving Violence Program was developed based on learning from the TVP and the Escaping Violence Payment National Trial.
