Developing and enabling robust family and domestic violence (FDV) screening tools to improve service offerings to the veteran community.
This activity is part of a broader activity to improve workforce capability to deliver quality services to veterans and their families.
Implementation progress update
A review of the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) FDV Awareness internal staff training module is due for completion in October 2025.
The DVA FDV Awareness for Managers internal staff training module is under development and expected to be implemented in January 2026. A review of the FDV Awareness of Delegates Quest training module has been completed.
An action item under the Defence and Veteran Family Wellbeing Strategy 2025-2030 is to encourage all staff within DVA to undertake mental health first aid, FDV awareness and trauma-informed practice training.
