Allocate $316,000 over 2 years through the 2024-25 ACT Budget to support implementation of the Disability Justice Strategy by ensuring Disability Liaison Officers are available to assist people with disability who are victims of crime, including victims of domestic and family violence.
Implementation progress update
The 2024-25 Budget provided $616,000 funding over 2 years from 2024-25 to 2025-26 for dedicated Disability Liaison Officers within the Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS), Aboriginal Legal Services and Victim Support ACT (VSACT). Of this funding, $316,000 was allocated to VSACT and DVCS. These Disability Liaison Officer positions provide direct support to clients with disability and/or progressing initiatives to improve agency responses to clients with disabilities. This activity implements action 4.2 of the Disability Justice Strategy: Second Action Plan (2024-2028) 'Build and expand upon success of Disability Liaison Officers across justice sector'.
