Activity details
Providing $8.4 million for greater access to specialised and trauma-informed services for victims and survivors of sexual violence through a pilot of a new legal service model for victim‑survivors of sexual assault. The pilot sites are due to commence in late 2023.
This activity is part of a broader activity to embed trauma-informed and culturally safe response models to support victims and survivors through the family court and justice systems.
Implementation progress update
On 20 September 2023, the Attorney-General issued a media release, announcing the pilot sites in Western Australia, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory.
Three different legal service delivery models are being piloted to provide specialised and trauma-informed legal services to victims and survivors, supporting them to participate in the justice system, guided by their own goals in their journey of recovery.
Each of the services commenced in 2024. Dedicated funding for evaluation will measure the pilot’s impact and inform future legal services for victims and survivors across Australia.
