Activity details
The Australian Government is providing $12.2 million over 5 years from 2024-25 for administration of a grant program to better equip existing specialist and community support services to respond to child sexual abuse.
This grants program will build upon existing reforms under the National Plan as well as the National Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Child Sexual Abuse 2021-2030. The program will support and empower victims and survivors of child sexual abuse to access high-quality, trauma-informed and culturally safe support services that meet their needs. Grants will be available to existing services working with child and/or adult victims and survivors of child sexual abuse. Grants will also be available for existing services working with children who have displayed harmful sexual behaviours, to provide evidence-based supports to help prevent these behaviours from re-occurring or escalating.
Implementation progress update
The Attorney-General's Department has developed the grant opportunity Grants for services responding to child sexual abuse and children who have displayed harmful sexual behaviours. Under this grant opportunity, grants of up to $200,000 per year over three years from 2025-26 are available. This funding will support services who are already working with victims and survivors of child sexual abuse and/or services working with children who have displayed concerning or harmful sexual behaviours. The grants are intended to be accessed by services aimed at delivering early intervention, response, healing and recovery to stop the intergenerational cycle of violence.
Grant applications opened on 17 June 2025 and closed on 28 July 2025. Selection and establishment of agreements with successful grantees is anticipated to occur in December 2025.
