First Nations Cultural Advisors

Townsville, Redlands and the Capricornia Coast High Risk Teams (HRT) have funded First Nations Cultural Advisor (FNCA) positions. These NGO specialists provide tailored support to First Nations people impacted by domestic and family violence, with consideration of local protocols, languages and family or kinship groups. Community controlled organisations have been engaged to provide the Cultural Advisors. This initiative was delivered in response to a recommendation of the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce’s first report, Hear her voice – Report One. 

Other HRTs have self-funded Cultural Advisors. HRTs have each been allocated a Positive Relationship Cultural Connector, who often work closely with FNCAs.
