Activity details

Work with the Australian Childhood Foundation to pilot a new response for children aged 5-12 and their non-violent carers who have experienced domestic and family violence. The service will also focus on strengthening and reconnecting the bond between the child and the non-violent parent.

Implementation progress update

Heartfelt is a pilot program delivered by the Australian Childhood Foundation offering group and therapeutic support for children aged 5–12 and their non-violent carers, helping them recover from domestic and family violence. An interim evaluation in June 2024 led to an expansion of the program to include individual counselling, therapeutic needs assessments, psychoeducation for carers, and case management for families with complex needs. These expanded services began in July 2024, with a final evaluation due in 2025. For more information see Heartfelt Program - Australian Childhood Foundation.
