The Family and Domestic Violence Response Team (FDVRT) model is a partnership between the Department of Communities, Western Australia Police Force and community sector family and domestic violence services. The FDVRT model aims to improve the safety of child and adult victims of family and domestic violence through a collaborative approach that focuses on timely and early intervention following a police call out to a domestic violence incident.
Funding has been secured to transition FDVRT operation to 7 days per week.
This activity is part of a broader activity to improve responses to better support victim-survivors and hold people who choose to use violence to account through a coordinated approach involving police, justice and family and domestic violence Coordinated Response Services.
Implementation progress update
Seven days per week operations
Additional funding has been secured to transition FDVRT operation to 7 days per week. This funding will also secure the ongoing roles for of the non-government family and domestic violence advocates who partner in the model. The 7 days per week operation of the FDVRT commenced via phased implementation in February 2025 with delivery in Pilbara, Midwest Gascoyne, East and West Kimberley, Goldfields, Great Southern, and Wheatbelt.
