Convening an Expert Advisory Group (EAG) to support the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) Inquiry and advise Government on implementation of its recommendations.
This activity is part of a broader activity to provide $6.5 million over 4 years for strengthening and harmonising sexual assault and consent laws. A further $1.2 million over 2 years was provided in the 2025-26 Budget to expand and extend the scope of the ALRC’s Expert Advisory Group to advise on implementation of the ALRC Inquiry report, including advice from victims and survivors to states and territories
Implementation progress update
The Attorney-General’s Department established the EAG on 22 January 2024. The EAG comprises of 20 victim and survivors and their advocates to support the inquiry, helping to centre the experiences of victim and survivors. The EAG will run until June 2026.
