Activity details
Increased funding for new or expanded frontline services such as refuges, safe houses, counselling, advocacy, and behaviour change programs across regional WA. New and expanded services include housing upgrades, regional behaviour change programs, online counselling, and personalised support packages for victim-survivors.
Implementation progress update
Expanded front line services
Since November 2023, the State Government has committed over $250 million to support implementation of the System Reform Plan. Majority funding has been for new or expanded frontline services (noting several are described under this and other Actions throughout this report e.g. Angela Wright Bennett Centre) including:
- Funding uplift for refuges and safe houses; Capacity boost for counselling and advocacy services.
- Three new Safe at Home programs for regional WA.
- Three new men’s behaviour change programs for regional WA.
- Commitment to replacement of Stirling Women’s Centre to increase accommodation by 11 units.
- New refuges in Katanning and Leonora and continued funding for Munda Mia.
- Expansion of rapid rehousing programs to add step-down accommodation.
- Funding for Flexible Support Packages, which provides individualised funding for victim-survivors, offered through 43 services around the State.
- Funding for online counselling for victim-survivors in regional WA, offered through DV Assist.
- Continuation of the Housing Families and SWitCH programs offered by Orana House.
- Funding for a residential Men’s Behaviour change program, Breathing Space, in Hedland.
