Activity details
Establishing an Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission to investigate complaints about breaches of codes of conduct for parliamentarians and Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 staff, and behavioural standards for Commonwealth parliamentary workplaces.
This activity is part of a broader activity to implement government-led recommendations in the Set the Standard: Report on the Independent Review into Commonwealth Parliamentary Workplaces (2021).
Implementation progress update
The Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission (IPSC) sits within the PWSS and commenced on 14 October 2024.
The role of the IPSC is to independently investigate and enforce parliamentary behaviour in accordance with the adopted codes for parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and parliamentary workplaces.
