Activity details
Continue to enhance the skills, capabilities, and confidence of the NSW Health workforce through the ongoing implementation of the Integrated Prevention and Response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect Framework, and progress of the implementation of Phase 2 of the NSW Health Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Redesign Program which strengthens integration between NSW Health VAN services and the broader health system.
Implementation progress update
There are key projects and initiatives being progressed which support the achievement of this action. These include:
- Delivery of medical and forensic workforce development activities through Forensic and Medical Sexual Assault Clinicians Australia.
- Implementation of the Medical and Forensic Workforce Plan.
- Implementation of the Clinical Placement and Support Program.
Further work is underway at a statewide and local level to further enable workforce development and uplift, including workforce learning and professional development led by NSW Health's Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV). In 2024-25 ECAV a review of course offerings to build workforce capability and confidence. ECAV have also convened the Adult Survivor Program (ASP) Community of Practice (CoP) and working groups established under the ASP CoP to support the implementation and integration work occurring under the VAN redesign program.
Additional projects and initiatives being progressed which support VAN redesign include:
- developing the NSW Health integrated domestic and family violence psychosocial, medical and forensic crisis response model
- implementation of the NSW Health Aboriginal Family Wellbeing Strategy
- implementation of the NSW Health Integrated Trauma Informed Care Framework
- establishment of the Adult Survivor Program.
Further work is underway at a statewide and local level to further enable increased integration.
