Activity details
Domestic and family violence (DFV) practitioners have been embedded in police stations across Queensland to provide a specialised response to victim-survivors.
Implementation progress update
In stage 3 of the program, 4 specialist DFV practitioners from Centacare have been embedded at police stations in Caloundra, Maroochydore, Hervey Bay and Maryborough.
The Queensland Police Service has partnered with Centacare and the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety to deliver the initiative, which aims to provide information, advocacy, safety plans and other practical and psychosocial supports to victim-survivors.
Practitioners also help police gather evidence and ensure correct identification of people in need of protection.
