Activity details
Develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated Primary Prevention Plan (PPP) to address violence against women in Queensland. The PPP will be a foundational strategy piece that seeks to address the gendered drivers of violence, tailored to the Queensland context whilst building on current state and national initiatives. The PPP will guide and inform prevention efforts that seek to keep women and girls safe and provide measures to monitor the desired outcomes under the plan.
Implementation progress update
A new Domestic and Family Violence Reform Strategy (the Strategy) is being developed, with prevention as one of its key pillars. The Strategy will reset the Queensland Government's direction for domestic and family violence (DFV) reform over the next 10 years to deliver whole of community responses, integrated services, equitable service access statewide and a quality data and system performance approach. It will set the foundations for delivering effective and sustainable change, informed by contemporary evidence and lived experience.
The Prevention pillar will aim to drive a stronger, proactive focus on preventing DFV by educating and empowering Queenslanders to challenge the drivers of violence and enact meaningful generational change.
