Activity details
Delivery of 2 Rapid Rehousing for Women Leaving Refuge programs enabling up to 40 eligible women (and their children) per scheme, per annum to access the private rental market. One of the programs will be designated specifically for supporting Aboriginal women and children.
This activity is part of a broader activity to improve access to safe and stable housing for women and children escaping family and domestic violence.
Implementation progress update
Crisis accommodation and increasing refuge capacity
In January 2025, the State Government announced an ongoing commitment to improving safety and housing access for women and children experiencing family and domestic violence. This announcement included:
- Planning for the construction of 6 new crisis accommodation units in Albany and 8 in Geraldton.
- Progressing 5 additional business cases towards increasing refuge capacity in Midland, Thornlie/Southern River, Victoria Park, Fremantle, and Rockingham.
