Activity details
Continue to deliver the Regional Safety Hub program with 10 hubs located across 9 regions. The safety hubs provide a safe space for women to access information and assistance in their local community. Trained volunteers and staff provide an early intervention service for women experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) and raise awareness in the broader community.
Implementation progress update
The 10 Regional Safety Hubs continue to operate by providing safe, local places where women can speak confidentially with trained workers or volunteers who provide information, support and referrals. The Regional Safety Hubs were established across the state between 2019 and 2022 and have been embedded into communities to provide support that is trusted, relational and attuned to local need. The Regional Safety Hubs have intentionally been designed to not look like traditional DFSV services. This soft entry service model helps break down barriers to support in regional communities.
Outside of one-on-one support, the Regional Safety Hubs have delivered over 1,000 group activity sessions that have been informed by community need. These range from personal development and confidence building to cultural and community connection and creativity and expression sessions. These activities allow women to express themselves, build resilience and begin reconnecting with others in the community.
