Activity details

The Defence Strategy for Preventing and Responding to Family and Domestic Violence 2023-2028 (Strategy) sets out Defence’s vision, objectives, key areas of focus and principles. With a focus on the 4 domains of the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022-2032 (National Plan) (prevention, early intervention, response and recovery) the Strategy aims to:

  • enhance response, support and intervention provided to victim-survivors and those who commit family and domestic violence
  • provide Defence personnel with the skills and knowledge to recognise and confidently respond to family and domestic violence
  • promote community understanding and awareness of family and domestic violence.

The Defence Strategy for Preventing and Responding to Family and Domestic Violence 2023-2028 Action Plan (Action Plan) supports the achievement of the National Plan's vision, actions and outcomes and is delivered under the 4 domains of the National Plan. The Action Plan will be regularly reviewed with outcomes and deliverables updated throughout the term of the Strategy.

Government launched the Strategy in November 2023 and the Action Plan was released on December 2024. The Strategy and Action Plan will remain active until 2028.
